There are not much more highly touted JUCO prospects that the Longhorns go after in recent recruiting cycles than the former four-star Butler C.C. strong-side defensive end recruit Jacoby Jones. The 6-foot-4 and 265 pound Florissant, MO, native Jones was a huge OU flip in their 2019 signing class.

And unlike Rising, Jones still remains on the Texas roster in the midst of spring ball this offseason. Jones has played for Texas in bits and pieces of 16 games over the course of the last two years. He should be one of the more proven starters in the front seven that had a lot of roster turnover this offseason.

In his two years playing for Texas, Jones registered 42 combined tackles (19 solo and 23 assisted), two tackles for loss, one sack, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries. Jones had his most productive campaign yet last year in a single-digit number of games played for the Longhorns. He registered 28 combined tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack, and two fumble recoveries last season.

Former Texas assistant Oscar Giles was on it to flip the commitment of Jones ahead of the Early Signing Period back in December 2018. He ranked as the nation’s No. 17 2019 JUCO prospect, top overall strong-side defensive end, and No. 6 prospect out of Missouri (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranked him as the nation’s No. 32 JUCO prospect, No. 2 strong-side defensive end, and No. 6 prospect out of Missouri.
