Kelvin Banks, OT

Former Oklahoma State Cowboys commit and the elite five-star Summer Creek 6-foot-5 and 300 pound offensive tackle Kelvin Banks is a top-tier target at the moment for the Longhorns 2022 class. The Humble, TX, native Banks would be a top notch way for Sark and new offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood to get this class kickstarted in the trenches.

Banks originally committed to head coach Mike Gundy and the Pokes back on Sep. 29, 2019. And then he wound up re-opening his recruitment in July 2020. Oklahoma State does still appear to be a player at the forefront of Banks’ recruitment, but there are a number of other schools in the mix too.

Texas is now one of two dozen schools that have sent a scholarship offer Banks’ way. Some of the other notable schools that offered him are the Aggies, Oregon, LSU, Crimson Tide, Auburn, Florida Gators, Florida State, Oklahoma, TCU Horned Frogs, Texas Tech Red Raiders, Tennessee, and USC.

Moreover, Banks ranks as the nation’s No. 21 2022 high school prospect, No. 3 offensive tackle, and No. 5 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the nation’s No. 24 high school prospect, No. 2 offensive tackle, and No. 7 prospect out of Texas.

Texas did not do well recruiting in the trenches on the offensive side of the ball in their 2021 class. With another solid crop of in-state offensive line talent for this recruiting cycle, Sark and the Longhorns can’t miss for the 2022 class. Texas does have an official visit scheduled for Banks in June, which is a good sign.
