Texas Football: 3 5-Star recruits coming to the forefront in April
Harold Perkins, OLB
There’s no much better that it could get for Sark and the Longhorns in their 2022 class than if they could land the nation’s top outside linebacker prospect in the near future. But the likes of head coach Jimbo Fisher and the rival Aggies are seemingly making just as much headway, if not more, with the elite five-star 6-foot-3 and 200 pound Cy Park outside linebacker Harold Perkins.
The Cypress, TX, native Perkins seems to have both the Longhorns and Aggies at the forefront of his recruitment of late. But the 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions have both experts currently picking the commitment of Perkins to land with the Aggies over the Longhorns and the rest of the competition.
And the Rivals FutureCast has all of their analysts and publishers picking Perkins to also land with the Aggies.
Texas does have one linebacker commit in their 2022 class, with the underrated three-star Arlington-Martin product Trevell Johnson. Adding Perkins to the mix would do a lot to carry this 2022 class into the stratosphere, though, on this side of the ball.
Texas and Texas A&M are two of more than 30 schools to have offered Perkins. Some of the other notable schools to offer him are the Gators, Oregon, USC, Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, Notre Dame, Miami Hurricanes, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Penn State, TCU, Tennessee, and Texas Tech.
Moreover, Perkins ranks as the nation’s No. 12 2022 high school prospect, top overall outside linebacker, and No. 4 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the nation’s No. 18 high school prospect, top overall outside linebacker, and No. 4 prospect out of Texas.
