One of the most highly-rated targets of the 2021 Longhorns class that was offered by both Smart and Beard was the uber-talented four-star Montverde Academy 6-foot-4 and 190 pound shooting guard Langston Love.

As a product of the touted Montverde Academy basketball program and a native of San Antonio, TX, Love was a well-known target on the recruiting trail for the Longhorns. He wound up landing with head coach Scott Drew and the defending National Champion Baylor. Baylor also signed him down to his National Letter of Intent back on Jan. 18, 2021.

It would take a lot for Beard and the Longhorns to make a late push for Love to do something so drastic as to request a release from his LOI with Baylor. But a lot has changed for both the Longhorns and Red Raiders since Love first gave his commitment to Baylor back on July 15, 2020.

Texas, Texas Tech, and Baylor were three of more than 15 schools on Love’s offer sheet. Some of the other notable schools on his offer sheet were the Stanford Cardinal, Arkansas Razorbacks, Houston Cougars, Illinois Fighting Illini, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas A&M, the Villanova Wildcats, and Wake Forest Demon Deacons.

Moreover, Love ranks as the nation’s No. 34 2021 high school prospect, No. 7 shooting guard, and No. 6 prospect out of Florida (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the nation’s No. 35 high school prospect, No. 7 shooting guard, and No. 6 prospect out of Florida.
