For the second time in his college career to date, the former Longhorns guard and talented four-star recruit Jacob Young has his name in the transfer portal. Two offseasons ago, the 6-foot-2 and 185 pound redshirt senior guard Young put his name in the portal just to land with the Rutgers Scarlet Knights in the Big Ten.

Young has now split his college career, two years a piece, with the Longhorns and Scarlet Knights. Texas got Young for the first two years of his college career. And then Rutgers had him rostered for each of the last two years.

And last season was the best of Young’s career to date, yet he didn’t feel like it was the right move to come back to Piscataway, NJ, for a third season, and fifth in total in college.

In 28 games with the Scarlet Knights last season, Young averaged 14.1 points per game, 1.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.7 steals, and no blocks. And he shot 46.9 percent from the field, 36.9 percent from beyond the arc, and 72.6 percent from the free-throw line.

If he does return to college next season, then Young could be a valuable addition for one more year for another program around the college hoops landscape.

Young also declared for the NBA Draft after putting his name in the transfer portal, which could mean that the jury is still out on where he will take his talents to next.
