Texas Football: 3 best Caden Sterns landing spots in the NFL Draft
Baltimore Ravens
What would be a very fun landing spot for Sterns in the draft this year is with the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC North. Getting to land with a contender in the AFC right out of the gates would be an ideal way for Sterns to get accustomed to a winning culture at the next level and he would be able to likely contribute in some way immediately.
The Ravens also have a number of Texas Exes on their roster this year, including one that currently plays at the safety position for them. They had former Texas All-American and multi-year All-Pro safety Earl Thomas on the roster until his host of off-the-field issues cut him from the team last fall. And they still have fellow former Texas All-American safety DeShon Elliott in the mix.
Among the better defenses in the AFC for the last few seasons, the Ravens could foster a good atmosphere for Sterns to develop his game in. And they do have a depth need at the safety position. The current projected starters at the two safety spots for the Ravens in 2021 are Elliott and Chuck Clark.
Although he might not get starting reps out of the gates if he were to land with the Ravens in the draft, Sterns could compete for a backup role. Anthony Levine Sr., Jordan Richards, and Nigel Warrior are the three safeties that the Ravens have in the mix right now that would compete for backup roles. Sterns could definitely compete with that trio in the near future.
