Texas Football: Where former Longhorns fit in after the NFL Draft
Brennan Eagles, WR (UDFA, Dallas Cowboys)
The fit between the former Texas highly-touted four-star recruit and junior wide receiver with the Dallas Cowboys could certainly be an interesting one. The Cowboys have a good amount of depth in their receiving corps right now, and a lot of Longhorns fans questioned the decision of Eagles to declare for the NFL Draft one year early.
Eagles does get a chance to thrive with what should be one of the NFL’s more potent offenses in 2021, though. Playing alongside the likes of quarterback Dak Prescott, running back Ezekiel Elliott, and a standout wide receiver trio that features Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb, could also play to the benefit of Eagles in the end. We’ll just have to wait and see how this one plays out.
Draft Grade: C
Tarik Black, WR (UDFA, Indianapolis Colts)
It is nice to see the former Michigan Wolverines graduate transfer and senior wide receiver Tarik Black landing with one of his teammates from his one year playing on the Forty Acres. Black was one of the bigger additions out of the transfer portal last offseason for the Longhorns. But injuries constantly hampered him throughout his college career.
And injuries led to Black going undrafted in this year’s class. He’s got potential with the Colts, though, so I do like this particular undrafted free agent signing fit.
Draft Grade: B
Chris Brown, S (UDFA, Undetermined)
The last major undrafted free agent signing that we’re still waiting to see where he lands at the next level is the former four-star recruit and senior safety Chris Brown. As a strong contributor for the Longhorns last year, most would think that at least one NFL team would’ve already snatched Brown off of the undrafted free agent market.
Obviously since Brown has yet to find a landing spot in the NFL, his post-draft grade is incomplete. Any team that needs to fill out their safety depth with a still potent and proven option should look Brown’s way before the weekend concludes.
