Grant Tisdale, QB

I’ve discussed the possibility of the Longhorns adding the former Ole Miss Rebels highly-touted four-star recruit and sophomore quarterback Grant Tisdale out of the transfer portal before this offseason. Tisdale would by no means be a plug and play immediate impact solution for Sark and the Longhorns. But he could be more of a long-term depth add for this quarterback room.

The potential that Tisdale still brings to the table for a team like the Longhorns with a plethora of unproven quarterback talent could be special. Texas would not do wrong in all likelihood to add more young depth to the quarterback room. If neither Card nor Thompson works out this fall for Texas, then the reigns of the offense could fall to the former Iowa State Cyclones commit Charles Wright.

That wouldn’t inspire much confidence out of the gates for Texas unless Wright is doing a lot to impress the new coaching staff through the end of spring ball.

This is where the pursuit of the 6-foot-1 and 215 pound Tisdale could really come in handy for Texas. He’s taken less than 10 snaps in his college career to date. And that resulted in two completions on two passing attempts, good for 56 passing yards, and one touchdown.

A quarterback that just didn’t look to fit well with head coach Lane Kiffin and the Rebels could play to the benefit of the Longhorns. But there might be other landing spots that Tisdale looks to where he has a more immediate path to playing time than one like Texas.

What Texas would be getting if they pursued Tisdale is a talented signal caller that ranked as the nation’s No. 358 2018 high school prospect, No. 14 dual-threat quarterback, and No. 44 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). He is an in-state product that attended Allen High School in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
