It isn’t just true for 2021. Senior Texas cornerback D’Shawn Jamison was underrated both in the national and Big 12 conversations dating back to the end of the 2019 season. He is one of the most versatile and explosive defensive backs in the entire country. Jamison is a special return man that also makes big plays for the Longhorns in the secondary.

Texas will have a lot of new faces that need to step up this year in the secondary. But Jamison returns as one of their most productive players and true leaders at that level of the defense. He should also continue to be one of the most explosive special teams threats in the Power Five this fall.

This standout 5-foot-11 and 185 pound defensive back/special teams weapon is a multi-year All-Big 12 selection. He also won the Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Year award in 2020. It’s not hard to see why Jamison should be recognized as such a valuable special teams threat for the Longhorns at this point of his career.

What Jamison brings back in terms of production for the Longhorns this fall is 66 career combined tackles, four tackles for loss, no sacks, three interceptions, a whopping nine pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. He also allowed well under 100 yards after the catch last season, had no passing touchdowns against in coverage assignments and missed only five tackles.

It is also key to note that Jamison brings back more than 1,000 career kick return yards, two kicks returned for touchdowns, just over 250 punt return yards, and one punt returned for a touchdown.
