Zion Turner, Dual-Threat QB

Among the tougher quarterback prospects for Sark and the Longhorns to get in on at this point in time would be the elusive St. Thomas Aquinas 6-foot-2 and 185 pound dual-threat Zion Turner. If Texas were to send a scholarship offer Turner’s way, they would be the 13th school to do so. Although only a dozen schools have offered Turner, front runners do appear to already be emerging.

That doesn’t mean that it wouldn’t be smart for Sark and the Longhorns to at least test the waters and send an offer his way. Texas has yet to offer any uncommitted prospects at the quarterback position for their 2022 class. Of the roughly six quarterbacks that the Longhorns have offered for their 2022 class, all have remained committed to some school for the better part of at least the past two months.

Turner is one of the more highly-touted dual-threat quarterbacks that has his recruitment remaining open at the moment. This Florida native is very elusive inside the pocket and difficult to bring down. He’s also got a good arm to throw on the run when evading the pocket. Accuracy on intermediate and deep balls needs work, but that could be a development down the road.

Of the dozen schools that have offered Turner thus far, the more notable ones are the Texas A&M Aggies, West Virginia Mountaineers, Arkansas Razorbacks, Kentucky Wildcats, LSU Tigers, Miami Hurricanes, and Pitt Panthers.

Moreover, Turner ranks as the nation’s No. 355 2022 high school prospect, No. 8 dual-threat quarterback, and No. 44 prospect out of Florida (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the No. 10 dual-threat quarterback and No. 86 prospect out of Florida.
