As official visits are about to begin next month for the 2022 and 2023 Texas football recruiting classes, a lot of discussions are heating up about potential prospects to watch. And one name that is really hot in discussion at the moment concerning the 2023 recruiting class is the elite five-star Isidore Newman pro-style quarterback Arch Manning. As about the top prospect that Texas could prioritize for their 2023 class at this point in time, Manning is key to zone in on this offseason.

It appears that new head coach Steve Sarkisian and quarterbacks coach AJ Milwee are putting their full attention and effort in recruiting Manning. Putting the head coach on the efforts on focusing on one particular target on the recruiting trail more than one cycle out shows a lot about how the Longhorns are prioritizing Manning right now.

Since Texas at one point had a commitment from the top-ranked quarterback prospect in the nation, but wound up losing it to the Ohio State Buckeyes, makes for even more motivation to get Manning. The saga involving the decommitment of the elite five-star Southlake Carroll pro-style quarterback is something that Texas fans don’t want to relive.

Texas could contend for the top-ranked 2023 class in the nation pretty easily if they wind up landing a commitment from Manning when it’s all said and done. But this could be a long battle if they want to land the New Orleans, LA, native. They also look set to host Manning on at least one visit this year.

Texas football making progress with 5-Star QB Arch Manning?

According to a report from Mike Roach of Horns247 on May 18 (paid content), Texas is “one to watch” among the schools pursuing Manning. Roach tabbed the fact that Sark and Milwee are both going all out for Manning and the newly hired head coach’s success in developing quarterbacks of late as reasons why.

Texas isn’t likely to get a decision from Manning anytime soon. But staying amid the front runners to land his commitment is about all they can do at the moment.

As of the morning of May 19, Texas is one of just shy of a dozen schools on Manning’s offer sheet. Some of the other notable schools on his offer sheet are the Alabama Crimson Tide, Duke Blue Devils, Georgia Bulldogs, LSU Tigers, North Carolina Tar Heels, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Ole Miss Rebels, and Tennessee Volunteers.

Moreover, Manning ranks as the nation’s No. 3 2023 high school prospect, and the top overall pro-style quarterback and prospect out of Louisiana (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the nation’s No. 4 high school prospect, and the top overall pro-style quarterback and prospect out of Louisiana.
