Turning the attention to the defensive side of the ball, Texas has a lot of potential that they can build up to in the secondary if official visit season goes well. Top defensive back targets this summer for their 2022 class like the elite five-star North Shore cornerback Denver Harris, four-star West Brook safety Bryce Anderson, and four-star safety/cornerback Austin Jordan are all scheduled for official visits in Austin next month.

But the focal point to round out this list is the blue-chip Denton-Ryan defensive back prospect Jordan. This 5-foot-11 and 185-pound product out of north Texas is starting to become one of the more emphasized defensive backs around Big 12 country at this point of the 2022 cycle.

It does look like it will be a three-horse race to land the commitment of Jordan when it’s all said and done. And the three schools currently in that race are the Oklahoma Sooners, Longhorns, and Ohio State Buckeyes.

Texas is set to host Jordan on an official visit on June 25. And Texas will get the final shot to make an impact among the three official visits for Jordan next month. Oklahoma hosts him on June 18, and Ohio State on June 11.

However, it looks to be that the Sooners currently have the edge in pursuit of Jordan’s commitment. The 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions have all experts picking him to land with Oklahoma. And the Rivals FutureCast has all of their analysts and publishers picking Oklahoma.

Moreover, Jordan ranks as the nation’s No. 196 2022 high school prospect, No. 10 safety, and No. 33 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the nation’s No. 165 high school prospect, No. 12 safety, and No. 28 prospect out of Texas.
