DeMarvion Overshown, LB

One player that I believe a lot of Texas fans expect to reach a true level of stardom in 2021 is the former elite four-star safety recruit and senior linebacker DeMarvion Overshown. This 6-foot-4 and 220-pound standout linebacker is the most productive returning player at his position group with Juwan Mitchell headed to join the Tennessee Volunteers out of the NCAA Transfer Portal.

Overshown had a stellar 2020 campaign, outside of a few faults. He did have some problems with missed tackles, but Texas is glad to have him back in 2021 without a doubt. Texas will have a largely different-looking group this fall compared to last season. They have a plethora of transfer additions to get accustomed to the new schemes too.

But it is the fit with new co-defensive coordinators/linebackers coaches Pete Kwiatkowski and Jeff Choate that should really excite Longhorns fans in regard to where the game of Overshown is headed. Overshown should be one of the most productive and versatile linebackers in the entirety of the Big 12 this year.

Overshown is likely to be the starting weakside linebacker for the Longhorns this fall, a position which Kwiatkowski had a lot of success developing in the past. And since Overshown is coming off of a 2020 campaign where he registered 60 combined tackles, eight tackles for loss, two sacks, two interceptions, seven pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery, he is already building off a lot of momentum.
