Ishmael Ibraheem, CB

Among the most talented signees in the Longhorns 2021 class is the potent and lengthy 6-foot-1 and 175 pound Kimball (TX) cornerback Ishmael Ibraheem. Texas has a lot of talent in general brewing in the secondary, and adding Ibraheem to the mix will only help the Longhorns take this group of the defense to a new level.

Texas went from having some question marks in the secondary at one early in the offseason, to having solidified it in almost all spots entering summer workouts. That’s good news including the fact that Ibraheem has the ability to at least compete for some reps out of the gates.

Fall camp will truly be the time where Ibraheem can make his make. He’ll be able to turn some heads in summer workouts, but the real impact will be felt with reps on the line. What will be truly important for Ibraheem this summer is putting some size onto his lanky frame.

He does have excellent length for a cornerback that should be able to thrive in the new system under co-defensive coordinators Pete Kwiatkowski and Jeff Choate. But at 170 pounds, he does need to bulk up.

Ibraheem was a solid cornerback coming out of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. He registered at least four pass breakups each season he started for Kimball. And his elusiveness and strong one-on-one coverage ability make him a potent addition to the Texas cornerback room.

Coming out of Kimball, Ibraheem ranked as the nation’s No. 198 2021 high school prospect, No. 14 cornerback, and No. 32 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him a the No. 23 cornerback and No. 45 prospect out of Texas.
