Texas Football: 4 vastly underrated visitors that’re key to watch in June
Anthony Jones, ATH
The race to land a commitment from the under-the-radar three-star 6-foot-5 and 245 pound Liberty (NV) athlete Anthony Jones looks to still be tilted in the favor of one PAC-12 school. The Washington Huskies out of the PAC-12 North originally landed the commitment of the Las Vegas, NV, product Jones back in mid-December 2020. But he decommitted from Washington less than three months later.
When Washington offered Jones originally back on Nov. 26 2020, the defensive coordinator and one of the primary recruiters at the time was new Texas co-defensive coordinator/linebackers coach Pete Kwiatkowski. Now that he is on staff with Sark and the Longhorns, Kwiatkowski is the primary recruiter pursuing Jones.
And that looks to now be working out in favor of the Longhorns. Texas sent an offer Jones’ way back on April 6, and they have scheduled an official visit with him since. Texas is set to host Jones on his visit to Austin on June 11. He will be in Austin on the second big weekend of official visits on the Forty Acres next month.
Texas looks to be one of about four or five schools that are front runners to land Jones. The others to watch include USC Trojans, Washington, Miami Hurricanes, and Oregon Ducks. And the other two schools that currently have official visits set with Jones are Oregon (June 25) and Miami (June 4).
Getting a commitment out of Jones would add a lot of versatility to the Longhorns 2022 class. He is pretty underrated on the national scene at the moment. He ranks as the nation’s No. 543 2022 high school prospect, No. 45 athlete, and No. 11 prospect out of Nevada (247Sports Composite).
