At the moment, it appears that Sark and the Longhorns are pursuing a number of former commits of head coach Mike Gundy and the Big 12 foe Oklahoma State Cowboys. Texas looks like they could soon send an offer the way of the under-the-radar three-star Southlake Carroll cornerback and former Oklahoma State commit Avyonne Jones.

And Texas is definitely in on the pursuit of the elite five-star Summer Creek 6-foot-5 and 300-pound offensive tackle Kelvin Banks. It was a long time ago now that Banks decommitted from the Pokes, which came back in July 2020.

Texas is one of five schools that have an official visit on the books for what promises to be an extremely busy month of June for the in-state product Banks. His official visit with the Longhorns is scheduled for June 18. The other four schools he has official visits next month are Oklahoma State (June 16), Texas A&M (June 24), the Oregon Ducks (June 8), and LSU Tigers (June 4).

There could be more schools that Banks takes unofficial visits with next month too. That is worth watching for any of his top eight finalist schools that don’t have him scheduled for an official visit next month.

Two of the schools to watch in the recruitment of Banks at this point look to be Sark and the Longhorns and head coach Jimbo Fisher and the rival Aggies. While it could come down to the two big state schools in Texas to land the commitment of Banks, it would be a mistake to discount the Pokes and head coach Ed Orgeron and the Tigers among the frontrunners for Banks.
