An early target to watch for the Longhorns 2023 class entering official visit season is the first-rate Allen (formerly Morton Ranch in Katy, TX) 6-foot-4 and 250-pound five-star defensive lineman David Hicks. Texas is actually going to have Hicks to campus as their first official visit on the books for the month of June.

Hicks is set to visit Texas on June 3, getting him there at least one day before the rest of the weekend visitors. It will be big for Texas to set the tone with Hicks for the rest of the weekend. That could also set the tone for the rest of official visit season on the Forty Acres, getting them off on the right foot.

Texas offered Hicks originally back on Feb. 4, 2021. They were one of the earlier schools on Hicks’ offer sheet, which should put them in good position heading into official visit season in pursuit of his commitment.

But it might be a while before the Longhorns, among other schools on Hicks’ lengthy offer sheet, figure out where he will be taking his talents to at the next level.

Some of the other notable schools on Hicks’ offer sheet include the Alabama Crimson Tide, Florida Gators, Georgia Bulldogs, LSU Tigers, Michigan Wolverines, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Oklahoma Sooners, Stanford Cardinal, Tennessee Volunteers, Texas A&M Aggies, and USC Trojans.

Moreover, Hicks ranks as the nation’s No. 22 2023 high school prospect, No. 8 defensive lineman, and No. 3 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the nation’s No. 26 high school prospect, No. 6 defensive lineman, and No. 2 prospect out of Texas.
