Texas Football: 4 massive visitors to watch in second weekend of OV’s
Arch Manning, QB
There’s no bigger target on the recruiting trail maybe among any prospect for the 2022 or 2023 cycle for the Longhorns this summer (and likely beyond the offseason) than the elite five-star Isidore Newman five-star pro-style quarterback Arch Manning. The 6-foot-4 and 200 pound New Orleans, LA, native Manning is about the most highly coveted prospect of the 2023 recruiting cycle.
Manning also symbolizes the ability for the Longhorns to get off on the right foot in their 2023 class, in putting the saga of Quinn Ewers in the 2022 class officially behind them. But the focus should still be on moving the program forward and taking one step closer to stick at the forefront of the recruitment of a building block quarterback like Manning.
Last weekend, Manning was on campus with a big time competor with the Longhorns to get a commitment from him when it’s all said and done in head coach Ed Orgeron and LSU.
While there’s no clear frontrunner to land a commitment from Manning, schools like LSU and Clemson seem to be making headway with him. It is important that Texas is getting an unofficial visit from Manning on such a big weekend, though. The energy that should be flowing on the Forty Acres this weekend should be able to make a very positive impact on the recruitment of Manning for the rest of the summer.
More visits are likely to come from him throughout the next 12-18 months as his recruitment really starts to heat up.
