It feels like only a matter of time before the next domino falls in terms of the pursuit in the Longhorns 2022 class of athlete commits like Jones and the underrated three-star Tenaha athlete/wide receiver Jeremy Patton. Texas hosted the 6-foot-1 and 220-pound in-state product Patton for an official visit back on June 4. And it sounds like it went well with how his recruitment is trending this week.

The latest round of 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions almost unanimously favor Patton’s commitment to land with the Longhorns over the rest of the field. And those picks from 247Sports are in with a good amount of confidence too.

Although both Jones and Patton are classified as athletes by Rivals and 247Sports, they would likely fill much different positional needs for Sark and the Longhorns if both landed on the Forty Acres when it’s all said and done. Jones is likely to be more of an edge rusher or defensive linemen, while Patton would likely be a wide receiver.

However, the theme is still very much of the same in regard to Texas’ pursuit of both Patton and Joens. Texas is trying to make the most of the room they have in the 2022 class by adding some very switchable and potent athletes that fit the system of Sark on offense, and Choate and Kwiatkowski on defense. This skill set development is something that could be new to the scene for Texas compared to the last two coaching regimes under Tom Herman and Charlie Strong.

It will still be important to watch the official visit that Patton has on the books with head coach Dave Aranda and the Baylor Bears on June 18. His latest official visit also came with head coach Jim Harbaugh and the Michigan Wolverines last weekend, specifically on June 11.
