Texas Basketball: 3 2022 commits that Chris Beard could land in June

One of the early targets of the Longhorns 2022 class that Beard seemed to find a lot of momentum with was the four-star Coppell combo guard Anthony Black. The 6-foot-7 and 185-pound potent guard is a native of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and has the makings of a player that fits really well with the Beard scheme.
Black has almost all the tools that could make him an elite two-way guard in the Big 12. Texas could use a player like this type of player to build a program around moving forward. He is about as versatile as it comes among the Longhorns’ top targets for the 2022 class. Texas wasn’t able to get a guard that comes remotely close to what Black brings to the table in the 2021 signing class or out of the NCAA Transfer Portal thus far.
Texas being able to change the configuration of their rotation for the better in the early years under Beard could start with getting players that are excellent and lengthy perimeter defenders, who can handle the ball, run well in transition, and drive the lane and get to the free-throw line effectively. About the only downside to Black’s game is his need to improve his spot-up shooting ability.
Beard and the Longhorns present just one of a handful of landing spots to watch for Black when it’s all said and done. Oklahoma State and the Iowa State Cyclones could be two other schools to watch in pursuit of Black. Texas hosted Black for a visit back on June 9, with Iowa State set to host him for an official visit on June 22.
