Texas Football: Longhorns give near perfect pitch to Arch Manning
All the talk during the visit weekend for the Texas football program seemed to be the unofficial visit with the elite five-star Isidore Newman pro-style quarterback Arch Manning. As the potential grand prize target on the recruiting trail for Texas’ 2023 class, the 6-foot-4 and 210 pound Manning is validly getting a lot of attention on the Forty Acres of late.
New head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns were one of the initial schools that sent a scholarship offer Manning’s way. Texas was also one of the first schools during this month of visits to get him to campus for a big unofficial visit weekend.
Texas is now one of a dozen schools to send a scholarship offer Manning’s way. And the Longhorns do appear like they will be one of the few schools to host this big of an unofficial visit with Manning in the month of June.
Is Texas football positioning itself at the top in pursuit of 5-Star QB Arch Manning?
According to a report from 247Sports on June 14, Texas hit a “home run” with their recruiting pitch to the Louisiana native Manning. He was a star for the Longhorns among the unofficial visitors they hosted last weekend, ranging from his time arriving on campus, to the camp, all the way through concluding interviews.
This report from 247Sports did mention that Sark and the Longhorns crafted a great pitch for the weekend, but that they will have to come up with “something tangible” in terms of success on the field in the near future to keep up with some other top schools for Manning.
Texas had Manning on the Forty Acres on the weekend in which their major set of 2023 targets were all on campus for unofficial visits. There could be more visits on the way this summer and fall unofficially for top targets of the Longhorns 2023 class, but last weekend should be a landmark in the timeline for this recruiting class.
It is worth noting that the SMU Mustangs and head coach Sonny Dykes did host Manning for an unofficial visit on June 10. And head coach Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers both offered Manning and hosted him for an unofficial visit on June 6.
Other competing schools to watch for Manning include the LSU Tigers, Alabama Crimson Tide, Clemson, and the Georgia Bulldogs, among others. It will be interesting to see how Manning’s visit schedule plays out throughout the summer and fall of this year.
Manning ranks as the nation’s No. 3 2023 high school prospect, and the top overall pro-style quarterback and prospect out of Louisiana (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the nation’s No. 4 high school prospect, and the top overall pro-style quarterback and prospect out of Louisiana.
