Texas Football: 3 decommits of rival schools Sark could land in June
Given that the 2023 Texas football recruiting class just lost its first and only commitment, for the time being, in five-star El Campo running back Rueben Owens, there is a heavy emphasis placed on new head coach Steve Sarkisian at the moment in finding consistency on the trail. Sark found a hot streak on the recruiting trail for his 2022 and 2023 classes in the first couple of months following his hire as Texas head coach.
Yet, the results have really started to slow down for Sark and the Longhorns on the recruiting trail in the last month or two. With visit season kicking back into high gear this month following a 15-month hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic, Sark had to be hoping to get another spark on the recruiting trail.
Finding consistency has to be the main goal at hand right now for Sark and the Longhorns, though, especially for the 2023 class. Building off a solid foundation following the decommitment of Owens is the way to push forward for this coaching staff.

But in the third major visit weekend this month for Texas, most of the emphasis is now placed on the 2022 class. Texas has some big-time visitors on campus this weekend, including five-star wide receiver Evan Stewart and five-star offensive tackle Kelvin Banks.
Texas might be able to get one or two more commitments this month before the peak of the visit season wraps up this offseason (which concludes next weekend). A route that the Longhorns might be able to get that elusive next commitment in the 2022 or 2023 class is by way of flipping a former pledge of a rival school. That possibility has increased of late.
Here’s a look into three prospects to watch that are decommits of rival schools that Texas could land.
