One of the early commits in the 2022 Texas football recruiting class was the four-star Klein Cain running back Jaydon Blue. Texas landed a commitment from Blue back on Feb. 2, 2021, as he was one of the early pick-ups for new head coach Steve Sarkisian and running backs coach Stan Drayton in this 2022 class.

But one of the things called into question of late since Blue will not play in his senior season of high school football at Klein Cain is the status of his commitment with Sark and the Longhorns. Since Texas landed a commitment from four-star Tyler Legacy (TX) running back Jamarion Miller last week, the 2022 class does now have two blue-chip rushers in the mix.

Given that, it made sense that the questions were brought up about the status of Blue’s commitment. He hadn’t spoken out much since his June 18 official visit to Texas. But he’s also received only one scholarship offer since he committed to Texas back in February, which came from the UCF Knights and their new head coach Gus Malzahn.

Any current rumors of Blue should now be settled following a piece published from Horns247 (paid content) on July 8. This piece states that Blue is “locked-in” to his commitment at Texas as of now, despite how quiet he has remained on social media and with the college football media landscape in general since his official visit to Austin last month.

All sounds good on the front of the Blue commitment at the moment, which is a good sign for Texas fans. Blue is one of the highest-rated commits in the Longhorns 2022 class right now. And Drayton is getting quite the dynamic duo at running back between commitments like Blue and Miller.

Texas set out to get two running backs in the 2022 class, and Sark did well to do just that. Most of the focus now for the 2022 class lies with some of their top four and five-star targets on the recruiting trail, like five-star cornerback Denver Harris and five-star offensive guard Devon Campbell.

According to the 247Sports Team Composite Rankings, the 2022 Texas recruiting class ranks at No. 8 in the nation and in the second spot in the Big 12 behind the Oklahoma Sooners. Texas now has 14 commits in the 2022 class after a trio of prospects that were added last week.
