The top wide receiver targets for the 2022 Texas football recruiting class at the moment all starts with five-star prospects such as the Frisco-Liberty product Evan Stewart and St. Mary’s product Kevin Coleman. But only one of those two wide receiver targets of the 2022 class was a previous Texas commit earlier this offseason.

The 6-foot and 175-pound elite target hailing out of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex Stewart is one of the most hotly discussed prospects for the Longhorns 2022 class. Despite his decommitment from Texas back in March, Stewart still looks like he could wind up joining new head coach Steve Sarkisian when it’s all said and done.

But it does look like Stewart is going to take another round of official visits before he officially announces his commitment, which could very likely be the one that he sticks with. Texas could be one of the schools that he sees on his final round of official visits.

Last month, Stewart used two of his five official visits. And the two schools that he officially visited were Texas and the Florida Gators. He also took unofficial visits last month with the LSU Tigers, Alabama Crimson Tide, and Texas A&M Aggies. His final official visit was with Texas back on June 18. And the last unofficial visit came with LSU on June 27.

That unofficial visit with LSU came one day after his with Alabama.

Moreover, where Stewart takes his final round of official visits in the coming weeks and months could be very indicative of what his ultimate finalists will be. And Texas looks to remain in the mix as Stewart decides on the final set of his official visits.

Stewart also discussed what seems to be the final five schools in the race to land a commitment from him at this point. According to a report from 247Sports (paid content) on July 11, Stewart had some good words about the Longhorns after his official visit last month.

On the matter of Stewart visiting Texas and his interest in coming to the Forty Acres, he mentioned that this school “is the truth”. It also seems like Stewart likes the bigger city atmosphere in Austin. This city has more to do and more opportunity than somewhere like Tuscaloosa, College Station, and/or Gainesville.
