The picture of how the final pieces of the 2022 Texas football recruiting class is starting to clear up in the latter portion of this offseason. New head coach Steve Sarkisian does have a solid foundation constructed in his 2022 class thus far, but there are some results that didn’t fall his way of late either.

Texas seemingly hit on just as many decisions as they missed in the past month. In what was about the busiest visit season in modern football recruiting history for the Longhorns, Sark started to see the fruits of his staff’s labor arise in the first 10 days or so of the dead period.

There was good news that came about for Sark and the Longhorns in the form of landing a trio of commitments in the first week of the dead period. That trio of commitments even included two blue chips in four-star Tyler Legacy (TX) running back Jamarion Miller and four-star Frisco interior offensive lineman Cole Hutson.

News cycle likely to stay constant for the 2022 Texas football recruiting class in July

But there was also bad news that surfaced for the Longhorns 2022 class in the first week of the dead period. Texas missed out on the likes of five-star Summer Creek offensive tackle Kelvin Banks and three-star Duncanville offensive tackle Cameron Williams, both to the Oregon Ducks. Banks was a very sizable miss for the Longhorns 2022 class.

Yet, there is still hope alive for the Longhorns as we are just a couple of weeks away from the dead period lifting once again. Late July will allow for one final weekend of official and unofficial visits for this month before fall camp commences.

Here’s a look into three 2022 prospects that lie on the forefront of those that Sark and the Longhorns must impress in July.
