The lone former Texas commit on this list is also maybe the most important wide receiver target for the rest of this recruiting cycle. Five-star Frisco-Liberty wide receiver Evan Stewart is the talk of the town of late among skill position targets of the Longhorns 2022 class. And an official visit with Stewart that went well last month has this program headed in the right direction in his pursuit.

Back in February, Texas was able to originally land the commitment of Stewart. Although, it took less than one month for the Longhorns to see the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex product Stewart re-open his recruitment. The good news is that there is still a great chance that Texas can wind up with the commitment of Stewart when it’s all said and done for his recruitment.

Second-year wide receivers coach Andre Coleman and first-year special teams coordinator Jeff Banks will have their work cut out for them, though, fending off some of the top schools competing for Stewart’s commitment. Some of the top competitors to watch for Stewart includes the Florida Gators, Alabama, and Texas A&M Aggies.

Stewart recently mentioned that he feels like the University of Texas “is the truth”. He had a lot of good things to say about Texas following his official visit last month. It might take another round of visits for Stewart to be ready to announce his final decision. But the next decision is very likely to be the final one for Stewart by most indications.
