A big focus of the 2022 Texas football recruiting class of late included managing any flips both from their own prospects and those that are committed elsewhere. Although this recruiting cycle was filled with turbulence thus far, and there appears to be some level of normality returning with on-campus official and unofficial visits again, we’re likely to still see a rampant amount of change heading into the fall.

Finding stability on the recruiting trail is likely something that will take a good while for new head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns in the coming weeks and months. Texas got off to a hot start on the trail for their 2022 and 2023 classes following the Jan. 2 hire of Sark.

Progress could be made on the front of flipping multiple prospects to the 2022 Texas football recruiting class

Texas is now up to 14 commits in the 2022 class, with the latest few coming thanks to a trio of decisions falling in their favor back during the first week of the dead period. The first commitment of the dead period came back in late June, in the form of four-star Tyler Legacy (TX) running back Jamarion Miller.

And the other two commitments that the Longhorns got during the first week of the dead period came subsequently on the night of July 2, with two in-state interior offensive linemen joining the 2022 class. Those two offensive linemen that committed on July 2 were four-star Frisco product Cole Hutson and three-star Westlake product Connor Robertson.

Key misses on the recruiting trail of late for Sark and the Longhorns also makes it more important that the 2022 class tries to close in on at least one or two key flips. And some of the key targets that are currently committed elsewhere have already been identified in mid-July.

Here’s a look into three 2022 prospects that the Longhorns should continue to try and flip ahead of the fall.
