Jonathon Brooks

The lone running back signee in the Longhorns 2021 class was actually a commit brought in by former Texas head coach Tom Herman. Former four-star running back recruit and Hallettsville High School product Jonathon Brooks put up some of the most insane numbers you will see for a high school prospect last season.

Brooks was a really solid find for Herman and the Longhorns, and it was good for Sark to see him stick around even after the change in head coaches. Brooks was seemingly a positive presence for Sark and the Longhorns so far this offseason. Watch out for Texas giving Brooks the ability to make an immediate impact this fall too.

It is likely to go a long way to help Brooks’ case to get more key early reps in his college career this fall after getting the kind words from Bijan at Big 12 Media Days.

The problem that Bijan is going to run into this fall in the Texas running back room is the pure amount of competition for reps. Ahead of Brooks on the depth chart at the running back position are seniors Daniel Young and Gabriel Watson, and junior Roschon Johnson. That’s not even mentioning the likes of Bijan and Keilan.

If Brooks can show up to any similar level with the Longhorns that he did at Hallettsville, he’s going to be a stud on the Forty Acres. He absolutely dominated the competition during his senior campaign in high school, registering north of 3,500 rushing yards and 62 rushing touchdowns in just one season.
