During its comprehensive coverage of Big 12 Media Days last week, there was a key spotlight that ESPN’s “College Football Live” placed on the Texas football program and star sophomore running back Bijan Robinson. Texas had three representatives at Big 12 Media Days last week. Those three were Bijan, new head coach Steve Sarkisian, and redshirt junior defensive tackle Keondre Coburn.

Bijan was definitely one of the bigger stars among players that were representing their various teams at Big 12 Media Days in Arlington, TX. He has the hype to be one of the best running backs in the entire country, which is at least partially valid given the way he rounded out last season and his five-star pedigree as a recruit.

And when College Football Live covered Big 12 Media Days last week, a former Heisman Trophy winner on set dove in on the subject of the hype train surrounding Bijan. Former Houston Cougars star quarterback and the 1989 Heisman Trophy winner Andre Ware gave his opinion on Bijan as a top star in the Big 12 this year.

Andre Ware has high expectations and hopes for Texas football RB Bijan Robinson this year

Ware reportedly noted that he has high expectations for Bijan in 2021 and thinks that he could be one of the true Heisman Trophy contenders out of this conference in the fall. That’s always high praise for a budding superstar like Bijan to get those types of positive words from a former Heisman Trophy winner.

Texas will likely run a lot of the offense through Bijan in 2021. He will be one of the big keys to success if the Longhorns are to contend for a Big 12 Championship.

At Big 12 Media days, the first-year Longhorns head coach Sark likened Bijan to the former USC Trojans superstar running back and Heisman Trophy winner (granted it was rescinded a few years later) Reggie Bush.

If Bijan has a healthy workload this fall, and he’s able to stay healthy, he should easily be looking at a season where he can register 1,200-1,500 rushing yards, a dozen rushing touchdowns, all at a clip of at least six or seven yards per carry.

Texas finished off last season with a record of 7-3 (5-3 Big 12) under the direction of former head coach Tom Herman. Bijan, Sark, and the Longhorns are set to open up the 2021 regular season at home on Sep. 4 against Louisiana.
