Arkansas

We will get a sneak peak into how the Longhorns might be able to fair in an SEC division when new head coach Steve Sarkisian and his squad square up against the Arkansas Razorbacks and head coach Sam Pittman. Now well under two months away from the meeting between Texas and Arkansas in the non-conference slate this fall, this game will have even higher stakes now.

Sark and the Longhorns could be in a position to build some real momentum heading to the SEC from the Big 12 with a win over the Razorbacks this fall. The specific date for the meeting with Arkansas is set for Sep. 11, under the lights in Fayetteville. This could already be the highest stakes non-conference game on the Longhorns’ regular season slate this fall.

Moreover, Arkansas does have the resources to consistently compete as a middle-tier team in the SEC. But that could change at least a bit with the additions of Texas and Oklahoma. Arkansas is not a blue blood program with the revenue stream that could match a school like the Florida Gators, Alabama Crimson Tide, Georgia Bulldogs, Tennessee Volunteers, Texas, Oklahoma, etc.

This move from Texas and Oklahoma to the SEC could put the Hogs in an even tougher spot in nearly all sports moving forward. It’s not just a football conversation to see how the Razorbacks could be negatively impacted in terms of success in the win column in athletics across the board.

Football, men’s basketball, baseball, etc. will all be impacted by the additions of Texas and Oklahoma to the league.
