Putting weapons on the outside to good work

Texas is going to have a few notable weapons to work with on the outside this fall. If redshirt freshman wide receiver and former four-star recruit Troy Omeire is back healthy following a season-ending knee injury last fall, then there will be some depth on the outside too. We could see the likes of redshirt junior wideout Joshua Moore and Omeire starting on the outside.

There is also an option to give some additional looks to the sophomore wide receiver and fellow former four-star recruit Kelvontay Dixon this fall.

All of the weapons that either Card or Thompson will have to work with this fall could make this offense very potent. If the offensive line and ground game are as strong as they are supposed to be this fall, the outside receivers will also have a lot of room to work in the passing game.

And with the ability that the Longhorns could have with Card to get a more accurate ball to those receivers on the outside, that could give him an edge over Thompson. You can’t underestimate the ability of Thompson to throw on the run and the arm strength he still brings to the table in the pocket.

The raw level of talent that Texas has at the skill positions is rarely questioned. It’s the fact of Texas being able to finally execute on that talent in a meaningful way on offense that is usually questioned on the Forty Acres. Could Sark finally put it all together for the Longhorns?

Card might be the quarterback Sark needs to effectively get the ball out to all of the skill position talent now on the Forty Acres. Specifically in the receiving corps, watch out for freshman Xavier Worthy, redshirt sophomore Jordan Whittington, Omeire, and Moore.
