Although the impending move from the Big 12 to the SEC has drawn a lot of the attention away from the Texas basketball program’s outlook ahead of the start of the 2021-22 season, there is still a lot of excitement brewing on the Forty Acres. Texas hired away the former Texas Tech Red Raiders head coach Chris Beard this offseason to take the place of Shaka Smart.

That whole saga of the coaching staff turnover started back on March 26, with Smart leaving the Forty Acres to take the head coaching job with the Marquette Golden Eagles in his home state of Wisconsin. And then, it didn’t take long for Texas athletic director Chris del Conte to find his guy to hire as the next head coach of the men’s hoops program.

Texas basketball has a top 10-caliber lineup coming back next season

Texas officially announced the hiring of the former Texas Tech head coach Beard on April 1. A plethora of activity on the recruiting trail and in the NCAA Transfer Portal ensued for the next couple of months after Beard was hired.

It’s hard to find a better haul out of the transfer portal this offseason from any one men’s hoops program compared to what Beard got for the Longhorns. Texas also has some notable returning players that will still make a sizable impact next season.

But it is important to note which Longhorns players could really take their game to the next level and breakthrough to new heights. Here’s a look into three Longhorns players ready to stun the world next season.
