Interior Offensive Line

Center: Junior Angilau

First up, we focus on what the interior offensive line will look like for the Longhorns this fall. Maybe the spot with the most uncertainty in the midst of fall camp is at the center position. Texas mostly started with senior Derek Kerstetter at the center position last year, but that looks to change this season.

Expect either second-year IOL Jake Majors or junior and potential converted guard Junior Angilau to move over to center with how new offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood is experimenting at the moment. Angilau is getting the reps at center right now, and could in Week 1.

It will be key to see how Angilau lines up in the second scrimmage. Angilau is a big-bodied 6-foot-6 and 300-pound offensive lineman that is a good fundamental player. The uncertainty with Angilau comes with the fact that he’s only taken snaps in the past two seasons at the two guard positions. Center will be new to him.

Left Guard: Denzel Okafor

One of the more experienced offensive linemen returning for the Longhorns this year is the 6-foot-4 and 320-pound redshirt senior offensive guard Denzel Okafor. The good news here is that Okafor has taken a lot of snaps at both tackle and guard positions in his career to date. It makes sense to slide him over to left guard if Angilau is playing at center.

Right Guard: Isaiah Hookfin

The four offensive linemen that look to be locked in this fall for the Longhorns are at one of the guard spots, both tackles, and center (if Angilau is set to play there). But one of the guard positions is going to have some question marks. This spot either looks to go to sophomore Isaiah Hookfin or senior Tope Imade.

Hookfin has the higher ceiling and more longevity on the Forty Acres, which is why he gets the edge over Imade at this position. Both are likely to get some game reps this season, though.
