Texas Football: Klatt thinks Bijan is a ‘top 3 or 4’ player in the country
A lot of the hype surrounding what the Texas football program can do under new head coach Steve Sarkisian this fall has to do with the potential of star sophomore running back Bijan Robinson. Texas has a lot of skill position talent that could make this offense elite under the direction of the former Alabama Crimson Tide offensive coordinator/reigning Broyles Award winner Sark this fall.
There is also plenty of media hype for Sark and the Longhorns this fall, largely thanks to the star presence that Bijan brings to the table. Former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback and college football analyst/media personality Joel Klatt spoke on what he thinks of Bijan in an interview with Chip Brown of Horns247 this week.
While there were other topics that Klatt and Brown discussed in this interview, it was interesting to hear about how high the Fox Sports commentator/analyst is on both Sark and Bijan. He mentioned that he believes that Bijan is a “top three or four” player in the entire country this season.
Klatt has also mentioned before that he believes Bijan is the best running back in college football this year.
Joel Klatt high on what Bijan Robinson brings for Texas football in 2021
It is clear that Bijan is one of the most talented and potent running backs this year, but this is very high praise coming from Klatt. Most easily believe that Bijan is one of the top three or four running backs in the country. Saying that he is a top three or four player overall is very high priase.
This would mean that Texas could see Bijan as one of the most explosive and efficient skill position players around the college football landscape this fall. Granted, he showed that type of ability in the final two games of last season.
In December alone last season, Bijan registered 355 rushing yards on 18 carries (18.7 yards per carry), good for four rushing touchdowns. And he added five catches for 88 receiving yards (17.6 yards per catch), good for two touchdown catches.
It’s really hard to say that any other running back was one explosive and efficient in the last two games of last season. Former Texas head coach Tom Herman did not use Bijan as much as he should have for most of his true freshman campaign. That should change under Sark this fall.
Bijan, Sark, and the Longhorns are set to open up the regular season slate on Sep. 4 at home at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium against the No. 23 ranked Louisiana Ragin-Cajuns. The ability is there for Texas to improve upon the 7-3 (5-3 Big 12) record from last season under Herman.
