Texas Football: 4-Star DE Jordan Renaud high on Longhorns after visit
What could be a big stretch on the trail for the 2023 Texas football recruiting class this fall could’ve begun from the weekend. Texas and new head coach Steve Sarkisian got a big win over the No. 23 ranked Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns on Sep. 4 at home by a score of 38-18. That was a big win for No. 21 ranked Texas to get Sark era off to a good start on the field.
And positive results on the field can lead to direct success on the recruiting trail for Sark and the Longhorns this fall. It would be big for the Longhorns if the momentum created on the field this fall was able to really get this 2023 class off the ground. Texas still lies without a commit yet in the 2023 class.
That is where Texas making a solid impression over the weekend comes into play in such a lofty manner. One particular prospect that Texas apparently made a positive impression on with the 20-point win over Louisiana last weekend is the touted four-star Tyler Legacy defensive lineman Jordan Renaud.
As someone who participated in camp with Texas over the summer, but didn’t show much interest in the school prior to the fall, this seems to be a very positive progression to get Renaud to campus for a key game weekend.
According to a report from Inside Texas this week (paid content), Renaud is high on the Longhorns following his visit to campus for the Louisiana game last weekend. This is a potentially massive development for the Longhorns 2023 class, who could really use a stout and extremely highly-ranked defensive lineman in the mix like Renaud.

There were some SEC schools that looked to be in the lead with Renaud heading into the fall. He had taken two unofficial visits with the Texas A&M Aggies in June and July. And the Alabama Crimson Tide have pressed on Renaud in the past few months.
Other competing schools such as the Miami Hurricanes, Michigan Wolverines, Clemson Tigers, and Florida Gators, are ones to watch this fall in pursuit of Renaud’s commitment.

Getting this visit from Renaud should be a key first step for new Texas defensive line coach Bo Davis, who looks to continue his ascent to top-tier status on the recruiting trail. Davis hit it big in the Longhorns 2022 class with a trio of blue-chip commits within a span of roughly 72 hours last week.
Renaud will definitely be a prospect to watch moving forward for the Longhorns 2023 class. He is one of the five-highest rated defensive linemen (out of more than 15) that Texas has offered for the 2023 class.
Renaud ranks as the nation’s No. 39 2023 high school prospect, No. 9 defensive lineman, and No. 7 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). A strong showing on the field this fall combined with the move from the Big 12 to the SEC for Texas should be enough to gain more traction with Renaud in the coming months.
