There is one visit weekend that is really starting to pile up for the 2022 Texas football recruiting class for a key Big 12 game next month. Texas and new head coach Steve Sarkisian are now set to host multiple key prospects that are targets of the 2022 class in a big conference game weekend when this team takes on the Oklahoma State Cowboys on Oct. 16.

One of the latest additions for this building visit weekend of critical importance for Sark and the Longhorns 2022 class is a commit of an in-state Group of Five school. Texas now looks to have four-star Garland wide receiver and SMU Mustangs commit Jordan Hudson on the books for an official visit for the Oklahoma State game in a few weekends.

A report from Horns247 (paid content) confirmed the official visit with Texas for the former Oklahoma Sooners commit and SMU flip Hudson. Texas has reportedly stayed in contact with Hudson throughout his recruitment, even through two commitments to other schools.

Now to get too far ahead of ourselves here, but if Texas were to flip Hudson’s commitment from SMU, it would be the third school he’s pledged to in a matter of just a few months.

4-Star WR and SMU commit Jordan Hudson gets an official visit date set with Texas football

Hudson originally committed to Oklahoma back in July 2020. And then, he announced his decommitment from the Sooners on June 14, 2021. Less than one month later, Hudson committed to SMU and head coach Sonny Dykes.

Texas does still appear to be a major player in the recruitment of Hudson this fall. This is the first official visit that Hudson has on the books following his July 4 commitment to SMU.

This is notable since Hudson announced his three finalist schools prior to his commitment to the Mustangs to be SMU, Texas, and the Alabama Crimson Tide. Alabama doesn’t appear to still be in pursuit of Hudson since his commitment to SMU more than two months ago.

We’ll see how far this official visit with Hudson can get Texas in their apparent quest to flip his commitment from SMU. Granted, if Texas were to flip his commitment, it would be big to get Hudson in this 2022 class.

The lone blue-chip wide receiver commit in the Longhorns 2022 class at the moment is four-star Lewisville product Armani Winfield. Hudson is starting to join a group of top remaining wide receiver targets for the Longhorns 2022 class that also includes five-star Frisco-Liberty product Evan Stewart and four-star Spearman (TX) product Brenen Thompson.
