Texas Football: 4-Star CB Jaden feeling the ‘love’ from the Longhorns
Very early on in his recruitment, it looks like the Texas football program is making some real headway with the rising four-star Aledo cornerback Jaden Allen. As an early target of the 2024 recruiting class, Texas is doing good work to get in at this point with Allen before he’s even got a double-digit number of schools on his offer sheet.
Most would think that new head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns should worry about getting their first commit in the 2023 class first. But planting these seeds early with some top potential blue-chip targets in the 2024 class is how Texas can really get these groups off and running in the beginning stages of each cycle.
Allen is a rising cornerback with the 2024 recruiting class that now holds offers from six schools at this point of his recruitment. He’s also got offers from the likes of the Mississippi State Bulldogs, USC Trojans, FCS Jackson State, LSU Tigers, and FCS Illinois State.
Texas sent a scholarship offer Allen’s way specifically back on June 1, 2021. He is one of the early offers to go out for Texas in the 2024 class.
Texas football putting in the time to prioritize 4-Star CB Jaden Allen early on
According to a report from 247Sports (paid content) on Sep. 30, Texas is one of the only major schools that is continually reaching out to Allen early on. The Texas coaching staff is showing some serious commitment to the recruitment of Allen. And ironically, that could very well wind up paying off in Texas getting a commitment from Allen eventually.
This report from 247 also noted that Texas is “feeling the love” from the Longhorns coaching staff early on, which makes sense given the earlier part of this piece. And it sounds like the primary recruiter after Allen is new safeties coach Blake Gideon.
All of this is not too surprising, though. Allen’s brother is the 2022 Texas four-star safety commit Bryan Allen Jr. And with how much energy and attention Allen Jr. is giving to other top blue-chip targets of the Longhorns 2022 class, it makes sense that the coaching staff is returning the recognition to his brother.
The 5-foot-9 and 150-pound sophomore Aledo corner Allen is also a track athlete in high school. He started for Aledo in varsity football too as a freshman last year.
It looks like Texas is doing a lot with Allen to gain some early traction. Even the one expert 247Sports Crystal Ball Prediction in for Allen has his commitment landing with Texas.
Texas doesn’t yet have a commitment in the 2023 or 2024 class. But it shouldn’t be too long before Sark and the Longhorns start to add to the 2023 class. Allen is also clearly a prospect to watch in the 2024 class very early on.
