One of the most recent additions to the list of visiting prospects (per Inside Texas, paid content) out of the DFW Metroplex for Red River this weekend is the elite five-star Bowie interior offensive lineman Devon Campbell. As one of the most important prospects left on the board for the Longhorns 2022 class a couple of months out from the Early Signing Period, it’s huge to make the right impression with Campbell down the stretch this fall.

Campbell still looks to have Texas as his top school, it there is one at the moment. Texas has done well to continue having momentum in their favor since the summer with the Arlington, TX, native Campbell.

This is a very important game for Texas to do well with Campbell. Both Texas and Oklahoma are top schools for Campbell this fall. A win for Texas in Red River could further solidify this apparent lead for the Longhorns in the race to land a commitment from Campbell.

Texas has new offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood as the top recruiter after Campbell. And if Flood can show that the offensive line play is already moving in the right direction against one of the more talented defenses in the Big 12 in Oklahoma, it will go a long way to impressing Campbell.

Oklahoma has offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh as the top recruiter after Campbell. But it seems like the contact has died down a bit between Campbell and the Sooners. This is a big opportunity for Texas to try to maintain a lead in the recruitment of this top offensive lineman.
