Heading into what could be the most important game of the season, new head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas football program are looking to upend head coach Lincoln Riley and the No. 6 ranked Oklahoma Sooners. Texas is set to take on Oklahoma in the annual Red River Rivalry game on Oct. 9, looking to extend the winning streak to four games.

A driving force for the Longhorns success so far this season is star sophomore running back Bijan Robinson. As possibly the best running back in the entirety so far this season, Bijan has put the team on his back at times. And he is sure to be a pivotal factor for the Longhorns as they try to upset the Sooners this weekend.

Bijan’s excellence so far this season, and his potential the rest of the way, is recognized in some of the latest Heisman odds this week. Some of the latest Heisman odds from Fanduel tab Bijan as the favorite among running backs through Week 5.

He ranks ahead of the likes of Michigan State star Kenneth Walker III, Iowa State’s Breece Hall, etc. in the Heisman odds among running backs this week. And he also ranks among the top five players in the entire country in general in the Heisman odds this week.

Texas football riding the success of RB Bijan Robinson of late

Some of the biggest challengers to watch in the Heisman odds race with Robinson at this point of the season include Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral and Alabama quarterback Bryce Young, among others. It looks like most of the challengers if Bijan wants to be a Heisman finalist this fall will predictably be quarterbacks.

Bijan has put on an absolute show through five games this fall. He leads the FBS in total yards from scrimmage (819), and is second in total touchdowns (nine).

The Oklahoma defense will be one of the tougher that he’s faced so far this season. It is likely the toughest he’s faced since the humbling road loss last month at the hands of the Arkansas Razorbacks. If the Texas offensive line is able to get a better push, and quarterback Casey Thompson is rhythmic in leading this group, Bijan should have more room to run against Oklahoma than he did Arkansas.
