Texas football in ‘fantastic’ position with QB Dylan Raiola early on
Until the 2023 Texas football recruiting class managed to land its first commitment, it feels like the 2024 class will mostly remain an afterthought. But Texas does have one important target coming to the forefront early on that is worth noting for the 2024 recruiting class at this point. And that is the rising four-star Burleson (TX) quarterback Dylan Raiola.
New head coach Steve Sarkisian, quarterbacks coach AJ Milwee, and the Longhorns hosted Raiola for a visit back on Sep. 25 for a key game weekend in the Big 12 opener. Texas hosted Raiola when the team smashed the Texas Tech Red Raiders at home by the final score of 70-35.
That had to make a positive impression with the blue-chip 2024 quarterback prospect. Raiola definitely seems to have traction with the Longhorns since then too. Texas officially sent a scholarship offer Raiola’s way on Sep. 25.
Getting the offer to Raiola means that Texas officially got in the mix for his recruitment. And it appears that Texas should only continue to trend up from here with the Burleson, TX, native.
Texas football reportedly doing well with 4-Star 2024 QB Dylan Raiola early in his recruitment
According to a report from Horns247 (paid content) on Oct. 6, Texas sits in a “fantastic position” right now in the recruitment of Raiola early on. Raiola and his family reportedly love what they’ve seen and heard from the likes of Sark and Milwee thus far.
It sounds like Raiola and his family could see an NFL future for him getting developed under Sark with the Longhorns. And while they still have a long time to finalize this type of decision, these are good leading indicators for Texas with an important 2024 target.
Texas is now one of just under a dozen schools on Raiola’s offer sheet. But it sounds like Raiola is getting close to narrowing his top schools to maybe even half of those that offered him so far. Some of the significant schools to watch in his recruitment are the Florida State Seminoles, Baylor Bears, Georgia Bulldogs, Nebraska Cornhuskers, and Texas Tech.
It is also worth watching to see if some other schools that have sent reported scout looks his way, like the Alabama Crimson Tide and Clemson Tigers, will wind up offering him soon.
Since Sark and the Longhorns don’t currently have any commits in the 2023 and 2024 recruiting classes, paying attention to key prospects like Raiola is important moving forward. It shouldn’t be too long, though, before the commits start coming in for the Longhorns 2023 class if nothing else.
