Texas Football: 3 reasons the Longhorns will upset OU
Texas has Bijan Robinson
The constant source of excellence for Sark and the Longhorns on either side of the ball this fall has remained star sophomore running back Bijan Robinson. In fact, pretty much all Texas running backs have played extremely well through five games this season.
We’re likely going to see a heavier dose from the likes of junior running back Roschon Johnson and redshirt sophomore Keilan Robinson in this game than we did in the win over TCU last weekend. Bijan got a heavy dose of rushing attempts in the win over TCU, and he took a ton of hits in the process running up the middle. Sark is likely going to want to limit those hits in the next two weeks as Texas faces the two Oklahoma schools.
Bijan got 35 rushing attempts last week against TCU, good for 216 yards (6.2 yards per carry) and two rushing scores. He also led the nation on missed tackles forced on rushing plays in Week 5, as he put up an impressive 15. Bijan still leads the nation in missed tackles forced this season too (on rushing plays and in total).
Nonetheless, it should be simple in this game for Texas. Get the ball to Bijan in space to help open things up for Casey Thompson in the passing game. Texas can also utilize the dual-threat ability of Thompson in this game if they want to expand the looks on the ground.
Even if Texas has to give a heavier workload to Roschon and Keilan this weekend, the ground game should still be effective. Sark can scheme the speedy and elusive Keilan open in horizontal passing plays and jet sweeps. And Roschon is still one of the most effective and versatile running backs in the Big 12.
