Texas Football: Steve Sarkisian visiting with Arch Manning this week
One of the most hotly discussed storylines heading into the matchup with the No. 12 ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys this weekend surrounding No. 25 ranked Texas football is the visit of the elite five-star Isidore Newman (LA) quarterback Arch Manning. As likely the biggest visitor on campus this weekend for the Oklahoma State game at home on Oct. 16, Manning is going to be a celebrity on the Forty Acres.
In the biggest visit weekend of the fall for new head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns, a bounce-back win over head coach Mike Gundy and the Pokes would go a long way to drive success on the recruiting trail. Getting a win over a stout Oklahoma State defense would also mean that Texas shows Manning that this offense has a lot of potential under Sark.
Texas football HC Steve Sarkisian visiting Arch Manning for a Newman game on Oct. 14
According to a report from Inside Texas of the On3 network (paid content) on Oct. 11, Sark is set to visit for Manning’s high school football game with Newman later in the week. Sark is specifically set to visit with Manning at Newman on Oct. 14.
This will be the first real major coach visit for Sark with a huge 2023 high school prospect to any game. That just goes to show how much Texas is prioritizing Manning at this point of his recruitment. Texas likely isn’t going to roll out the red carpet for anyone quite as they will for Manning.
Texas is hoping to one-up the competition this weekend when Sark and his staff host Manning for a big-time visit. Manning has already visited the likes of the Alabama Crimson Tide and Georgia Bulldogs this fall. Both of those visits looked to impress the Louisiana quarterback.
Georgia seems to be one of the schools that has the most momentum of late with Manning. But a successful visit this weekend with the Longhorns, where the team potentially gets a big-time win over a top-15 ranked team in the Pokes could make a huge impact on the recruiting trail.
It also helps that Sark is investing the time necessary to win over the interests of Manning when he is one of the most highly-touted high school prospects in the last two decades.
Manning ranks as the No. 1 high school prospect in the nation for the 2023 recruiting cycle. Texas is going all-in to make him the top priority for the 2023 class, which is still seeking out its first commit this fall. Sark and the Longhorns do look to be headed in the right direction with Manning too.
