Rueben Owens, RB

One of the true top skill position prospects that the Longhorns are going after in the 2023 class is the elite five-star El Campo running back Rueben Owens. At one point in time earlier this year, Owens was the lone commit in the Longhorns 2023 class. In fact, he was the only 2023 prospect ever to be committed in the Longhorns 2023 class.

Texas could really continue its elite line of recruiting at the running back position if they can land a commitment from Owens in the 2023 class. That would also go a long way to bolster the supporting cast to prove to Manning that he will be surrounded by top-notch talent during his time on the Forty Acres if he so decides to eventually commit to Texas.

Texas landed commitments from a pair of highly coveted four-star running backs in the Klein Cain product Jaydon Blue and Tyler Legacy product Jamarion Miler in the 2022 class. That came after landing one of the most underrated blue-chip running backs in the country in the 2021 signing class in true freshman Hallettsville High School product Jonathon Brooks.

The momentum that could be created for Sark and the Longhorns in the 2023 class by landing a commitment from Owens would also be monumental. If Texas could get Owens back in the 2023 class, that would definitely be something that catches Manning’s attention. Owens is expected to be in attendance with Manning for the Oklahoma State game this weekend.
