As new head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas football are about to wrap up the true gauntlet portion of the Big 12 slate this weekend in a road meeting with head coach Matt Campbell and the Iowa State Cyclones on Nov. 6, things are getting bad for this team. Texas hasn’t been blown out in three losses in Big 12 play this season, but the last few weeks weren’t pretty.

In a way, it would be better for Sark and the Longhorns to get blown out in some of these games than to undergo the narrative that they have of late. Texas has blown three straight fourth-quarter leads. Not to mention, Texas owned double-digit leads in the second half in all three of their latest losses in Big 12 play.

Last weekend, it was the Longhorns blowing a 21-10 lead in the second half at the hands of head coach Dave Aranda and the No. 16 ranked Baylor Bears. Baylor would go on a 21-3 run to finish out the game in the final 20 minutes to get the win in Waco by the final score of 31-24.

Texas football down after posting a three-game losing streak

In the prior game, Texas blew a 24-13 second-half lead to the Oklahoma State Cowboys at home on Oct. 16. Oklahoma State would outscore Texas 29-7 and go on a 19-0 run to finish out this game.

And we don’t have to go all the way back to the loss to the Oklahoma Sooners in the Red River Rivalry game. The point is that the blown leads have to stop for Texas. And there’s no one clear way to find an answer to this problem.

We do know that there are some players that are going ice cold in clutch time of late which is something that has to change if this team wants to start winning games. Here’s a look into three Longhorns players that are ice-cold during this three-game losing streak.
