Among the top remaining targets for the 2022 Texas football recruiting class at this point of the cycle is four-star Atascocita (TX) offensive tackle Kam Dewberry. Texas and new offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood really need to hit on the offensive line in the 2022 recruiting class.

It has become very apparent how much Flood and the Longhorns need help in the 2022 class along the offensive line. And with just one blue-chip commit among the offensive linemen in the Longhorns 2022 class, more help needs to be on the way if this group wants to improve in the years to come.

This is why it’s so important to get commitments out of key offensive linemen targets like Dewberry, five-star Bowie IOL Devon Campbell, etc. ahead of the Early Signing Period and National Signing Day. Texas does appear to be in good position with both of these offensive linemen.

Texas is going to face more of an uphill battle, though, with Dewberry than they will with Campbell.

The good news here is that Dewberry is now scheduled to have one more official visit with Texas this fall. According to a report from Horns247 on Nov. 1 (paid content), Dewberry will be on campus for an official visit with the Longhorns on Nov. 13.

Texas football will get 4-Star OT Kam Dewberry’s final official visit on Nov. 13

That will get Dewberry on the Forty Acres for the weekend of the matchup against the Kansas Jayhawks. Texas has a decent visitor list piling up for that weekend. And hopefully, some of the poor results on the field will start to turn around before that game arrives.

Texas has a meeting with the Iowa State Cyclones on the road on Nov. 6 prior to when Dewberry will be on campus for the Kansas game.

This will also be the fifth of five official visits for Dewberry since the summer. He also had official visits with the Oklahoma Sooners, LSU Tigers, Texas A&M Aggies, and Ohio State Buckeyes. Those are going to be the four main competitors to watch in the race to land a commitment from Dewberry ahead of the Early Signing Period.

And with Dewberry reportedly expected to announce his decision around the time of the Early Signing Period in mid-December, Texas might be able to get the last word in terms of in-person visits before his commitment becomes known in the public eye. That could be huge for Texas when it’s all said and done.

dark. Next. 3 ice cold Longhorns players during the losing streak

The lone blue-chip offensive line commit that the Longhorns currently hold in the 2022 class is four-star Frisco IOL Cole Hutson. Texas likely needs to add at least one more blue-chipper in the 2022 class in the trenches to feel good about this group.
