Return of numerous upperclassmen with starting experience

Stability was going to be a big question mark for the Longhorns heading into this season. There was so much change that occurred since the spring for the Longhorns men’s basketball program that it was hard to see how this team would gel at the outset of the 2021-22 campaign.

But that concern shouldn’t be as relevant with some of the returning upperclassmen that have a plethora of experience to bring to the table for the Longhorns.

It is great for Texas to get key upperclassmen back heading into this season such as senior guard Courtney Ramey, redshirt senior shooting guard/wing Andrew Jones, and senior sharpshooting guard/wing Jase Febres, among a couple of others. Junior forward Brock Cunningham could also be an important piece off the bench for Texas this season.

In fact, there were really only two departures for the Longhorns during the offseason that look like they will hurt this team this season. And those two costly departures are likely to be breakout power forward Kai Jones (now playing with the Charlotte Hornets in the NBA) and versatile guard Matt Coleman.

Texas brought in more than enough depth to replace those two heading into this season. And the return of namely the trio of Ramey, Jones, and Febres, should be more than enough to give this locker room some stability and valuable experience throughout this season.
