Texas Basketball: 3 players that could be All-Americans this season
A nice start to the regular season slate arrived for new head coach Chris Beard and the Texas basketball program on the night of Nov. 9 at home at the Frank Erwin Center. No. 5 ranked Texas downed the Houston Baptist Huskies at home in the regular season opener earlier this week by the final score of 92-48.
There were some early turnovers that didn’t look great for the Longhorns, but pretty much everything else went well in the dominant season-opening win over Houston Baptist. This should give Texas some confidence and rhythm heading into what promises to be the most important matchup of the non-conference slate this coming weekend.
Texas is set to take on the No. 1 ranked Gonzaga Bulldogs and head coach Mark Few on the road in Spokane, WA, on Nov. 13. It’s hard to get much bigger than that during the non-conference slate for the former Texas Tech Red Raiders head coach Beard with this talented and deep Longhorns’ team.
Chris Beard and No. 5 Texas basketball have some real talent to work with this season
All of the talent and depth present on the roster for the Longhorns this season is something that has this team getting Final Four and Big 12 Title-level aspirations. Texas won the Big 12 Tournament last season and was a three-seed in the NCAA Tournament.
Given the amount of improvement to the roster during the offseason, it’s definitely not out of the question for the Longhorns to hold this season to that type of standard.
Nonetheless, here’s a look into three Longhorns players that could compete to be All-Americans this season.
