Texas Football: 4-Star ATH Kendrick Law ‘expected’ on an OV in the winter
The weeks are starting to wind down for new head coach Steve Sarkisian and the 2022 Texas football recruiting class to try and get its group locked in ahead of the start of the Early Signing Period next month. Texas does have a healthy number of commitments (22) in the 2022 class at the moment, but a plethora of top targets remain on the board for the coaching staff.
There are also some emerging names still worth watching in the weeks ahead of the Early Signing Period. A particular name to watch in the days and weeks ahead for the Longhorns in the 2022 class is the talented four-star Captain Shreve (LA) athlete Kendrick Law.
It is a rather recent occurrence that Texas is making a real run after Law. He and the former Arizona State Sun Devils four-star athlete commit Larry Turner-Gooden are two of the most important remaining “athlete” prospects on the board for the Longhorns.
But Law is getting a pretty bright spotlight placed on his recruitment right now. Texas is one of a number of big-time programs that are putting a ton of attention and energy into his recruitment roughly one month ahead of the Early Signing Period.
According to a report from Horns247 (paid content) on Nov. 11, Texas is looking to get Law to Austin for a visit before the turn of the calendar year. It sounds like it wouldn’t be a surprise if Texas gets an official visit on the books with Law at some point next month.
Texas football continuing to push for 4-Star ATH Kendrick Law
This would be big for Texas to keep getting big official visits during the month of December. Texas needs to start putting some backup plans in place if they wind up missing on some of their top five-star targets in the 2022 class.
Law can help to fill a valuable spot in the 2022 class if Texas misses out on the likes of five-star North Shore cornerback Denver Harris, five-star Frisco-Liberty wide receiver Evan Stewart, Turner-Gooden, etc. That doesn’t necessarily mean he can play at the same position as all of those blue-chip recruits. But he can still add numbers in a valuable sense to the 2022 class.
Yet, the Longhorns don’t look to be settled yet on a particular position group to play Law at. Knowing he could potentially have some say in what position group he gets slotted in if he commits to Texas could be an edge that the coaching staff holds in their pitch to Law.
There will be some heavy competition to land a commitment from the Louisiana native Law in the weeks ahead. He’s had multiple visits with the likes of the Alabama Crimson Tide, Florida State Seminoles, and LSU Tigers, since the summer. Texas is going to have to find an edge to slot ahead of that trio of top schools to ultimately win over the interests of Law.
Law is one of the highest-rated 2022 prospects that Texas has an offer out to that remains uncommitted. He ranks as the nation’s No. 93 2022 high school prospect, No. 3 athlete, and No. 6 prospect out of Louisiana (247Sports Composite).
