Brayden Liebrock, TE

Another player that was once a key piece of a past Longhorns signing class that has just faded out of the picture for one reason or another is the former four-star recruit and redshirt sophomore tight end Brayden Liebrock. Texas has yet to get Liebrock any major number of snaps in any season in his college career to date.

At one time, Liebrock was one of the most promising skill position talents in the Longhorns 2019 class. Injuries have really limited what Liebrock was able to do in three years on the Forty Acres thus far. Liebrock also essentially missed the entirety of the 2021 season after getting shoulder surgery ahead of the regular season opener.

Maybe there is a plan to see how Liebrock can fit with this offense in the years to come. But the Texas coaching staff would have to see a pretty sizable amount of patience and development from Liebrock once the rehab with his shoulder is complete next year to make that happen.

It might make the most sense for Liebrock to just pick up and take his talents elsewhere to find a change of scenery heading into next offseason. Texas also is starting to use some bigger tight ends that place more emphasis on the blocking game than running routes.

The most snaps Liebrock took in one season came in the final year under Herman last fall, when he had just over 50. A good portion of those snaps, though, came on special teams for Liebrock.
