Turning the attention to the defensive side of the ball, it wouldn’t be all that surprising to see someone like the former blue-chip recruit and sophomore defensive lineman Myron Warren return to the transfer portal. It was just last offseason where Warren initially entered the transfer portal just to return to the Forty Acres entering the fall.

But Warren was in the transfer portal for a good while before he decided to return to Texas. That is an indication of one of two things. The first could be that he did explore some other options he just didn’t like (or just didn’t have that many options at all). Or, Warren needed some time away from the program and ultimately decided returning was the best decision for him.

Despite an actual shot to make an impact for the Texas defensive front this fall, Warren hasn’t done much to make his mark on the team thus far. The two games where Warren got actual defensive snaps this season were also early in the Big 12 slate, so any role he’s had in the defensive front diminished of late.

Considering the fact that the defensive line is definitely one of the spots where Texas is going to have to reload next offseason, they might find other options out of the transfer portal ahead of Warren. If the sizable 6-foot-2 and 305-pound defensive lineman wants a chance to get reps soon, he might try to explore his transfer options again next offseason.
